Ryan Howard Family Foundation Grant Guidelines

The Foundation has one grant cycle per year and only accepts invited proposals. It is important to review our grant making guidelines and grant application process for information about what we fund, our grant cycle and how to apply.

Relationship to the Foundation's Priority Areas and Mission

We seek to partner with organizations whose missions and/or projects are clearly aligned with the Foundation's mission and grant making priority areas.

Grant Making Cycles

The Foundation has one grant cycle per year in the fall. The Foundation only accepts invited proposals which must be received by the date and time specified in the invitation letter.
Grant making decisions are made in October.

The Foundation provides the following types of Grants

  • General Operating
  • Project or Program
  • Capacity Building
  • Capitol Campaigns

The Foundation does not fund the following:

  • Campaigns to elect candidates to political office

Letter of Inquiry

The Foundation only accepts invited proposals. If your organization, project or program is aligned with our guidelines, we accept brief Letters of Inquiry (LOI) on a rolling basis. We will consider these LOIs throughout the year and will select the group of organizations to invite to submit full proposals at the beginning of each annual grant cycle. If your organization, project or program is aligned with our guidelines and you would like to submit a LOI, review the grant application process and submit an application.

Grant Review and Reporting Process

Every year the Foundation will invite proposals from a small group of organizations. They will be due on the date which will be specified in the invitation letter. Once received, proposals will reviewed and then phone interviews and site visits will be conducted with a smaller group of organizations. Grant making decisions are made in October and organizations will be notified about the status of their proposal prior to the end of the year.

At the conclusion of the grant, funded organizations will be expected to submit financial and program report. Specific information regarding reporting requirements will be outlined in grant award letters.
